Government Aid
Government student aid offers loans and grants to students in need of financial assistance. A loan must be paid back six months after completion of studies. A grant does not have to paid back if the school year is successfully completed.
Students do not make a separate application for loans or grants, provincial or federal aid. Instead, students submit just one application for consideration of all available aid. The student aid department calculates how much the applicant is awarded in loans, grants, provincial aid, and federal aid.
Residents of Alberta apply for student aid online at: www.alis.gov.ab.ca
- In Alberta, students in the Theatre Foundations programme are eligible for both provincial and federal student aid, while students in Mentorship are eligible for federal student aid only.
