Jeany Van Meltebeke

B.A. (Trinity Western University), M.F.A. (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)

Instructor in Acting, Faith and Art, and Drama Ministry

Jeany works for Rosebud School of the Arts as an Instructor in Acting, Faith and Art, and Drama Ministry, as well as being a part of the Resident Company with Rosebud Theatre. Jeany has also enjoyed directing for the BMO Studio Stage.

Her Rosebud acting credits include: Doubt, The Skin of Our Teeth, Treasure Island, The Diary of Anne Frank, $38,000 for a Friendly Face, Lettice and Loveage, Christmas on the Air, Fiddler on the Roof, On Golden Pond, Godspell, Joseph..., and A Bright Particular Star. Jeany also work with Chemainus Theatre as both an actor and a co-leader of their education program.

Before coming to Canada, Jeany spent a season with the Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival, Western Illinois Musical Theatre, Eugene Festival of Musical Theatre, and World Communities Theatre, among others.

Jeany cherishes many aspects of her Rosebud Experience, such as adapting and directing The Way of the Wolf. Other directing credits include A Wrinkle in Time, Toad of Toad Hall, An L.M. Montgomery Christmas (Rosebud School of the Arts); The Sound of Music and Winnie the Pooh (Chemainus Theatre Festival) and Quilters (Pacific Theatre and Parkland College). Jeany also had the privilege of being the crowd director for The Canadian Badlands Passion Play 2011-2012. 

In drama ministry, Jeany inspires students to bring theatrical ideas and practices into church and chapel services. With faith and art, Jeany encourages students to recognize their inner truth and express it in artful ways. And in acting coaching and other acting classes, Jeany mentors students into greater freedom as storytellers through various styles and physical exercises, reminding them to listen to their body and follow their instincts.
